The Extraordinary Adventures of Massagran
Author:
Josep Maria Folch i Torres
Illustrator:
Joan Junceda
Massagran is the main character of the book, written in 1910. Based on the original work, his character gave rise to a collection of comics, written by the original author’s son, Ramon Folch i Camarasa, and drawn by Josep Maria Madorell, based in turn on Junceda’s illustrations. All of them were serialised in the children’s magazine Cavall Fort. Massagran’s adventures compile Eurocentric conceptions and reflect the topics of the time in which it was published. We also find this aspect in contemporary works like Babar, Tarzan and Tintin.
